The non-linear dynamic analysis of three-dimensional long-span cable-stayed bridges when subjected to seismic loading is formulated. All possible sources of non-linearity, such as cable sag, axial force-bending moment interaction in bridge towers and girders and change of geometry of the whole bridge due to large displacements are considered in the analysis. Both cases of uniform and multiple-support seismic excitations are considered in the non-linear formulation of the problem. A tangent stiffness, iterative procedure is utilized to capture the the non-linear seismic response. The non-linear equations of motion are solved using a step-by-step integration technique in the real displacement coordinate space as well as in the modal coordinate space to save computational time.  相似文献

The dynamic non-linear behaviour of three-dimensional long-span cable-stayed bridges under seismic loadings is studied. The cases of multiple-support as well as uniform seismic excitations of these long and flexible structures are considered. Different sources of non-linearity for such bridges are included in the analysis, as outlined in the companion paper. In this accompanying analysis a tangent stiffness iterative procedure is utilized to estimate the non-linear seismic response. Numerical examples are presented in which a comparison between a linear earthquake-response analysis (based on the utilization of the tangent stiffness matrix of the bridge at the dead-load deformed state which is obtained from the geometry of the bridge under gravity load conditions) and a non-linear earthquake response analysis using the step-by-integration procedure is made. In these examples two three-dimensional bridge models representing recent and future trends in cable-stayed bridge design are utilized. The study sheds some light on the salient features of the seismic analysis and design of these long contemporary bridges. In addition, parameters affecting the seismic response of these bridges are discussed: other factors considered are non-linearity, uniformity and spatial variation of ground motion inputs and structural configuration.  相似文献

We are considering the spacetime described by the metric proposed by Mannheim and Kazanas. The effective potential and the circular orbits are discussed. The rotational velocity derived from the geodesics equation agrees with the observed flat galactic rotation curves. Finally, solutions to the Gordon equation for massless bosons evolving in this spacetime are obtained in terms of Heun general functions.

Tidal-signal attenuations are analyzed to compute hydraulic diffusivities and estimate regional hydraulic conductivities of the Northern Guam Lens Aquifer, Territory of Guam (Pacific Ocean), USA. The results indicate a significant tidal-damping effect at the coastal boundary. Hydraulic diffusivities computed using a simple analytical solution for well responses to tidal forcings near the periphery of the island are two orders of magnitude lower than for wells in the island’s interior. Based on assigned specific yields of ~0.01–0.4, estimated hydraulic conductivities are ~20–800 m/day for peripheral wells, and ~2,000–90,000 m/day for interior wells. The lower conductivity of the peripheral rocks relative to the interior rocks may best be explained by the effects of karst evolution: (1) dissolutional enhancement of horizontal hydraulic conductivity in the interior; (2) case-hardening and concurrent reduction of local hydraulic conductivity in the cliffs and steeply inclined rocks of the periphery; and (3) the stronger influence of higher-conductivity regional-scale features in the interior relative to the periphery. A simple numerical model calibrated with measured water levels and tidal response estimates values for hydraulic conductivity and storage parameters consistent with the analytical solution. The study demonstrates how simple techniques can be useful for characterizing regional aquifer properties.  相似文献

Optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and back-scattered electron imaging (BSE) have been used to determine the mineralogical composition of the uraniferous iron and manganese oxides and the associated U-minerals hosted in biotite granite that occurred north east Gabal El Sela area south Eastern Desert, Egypt. These mineralizations were found as veinlets fractures filling associated with strongly kaolinitic alteration of the coarse-grained biotite granite. XRD determined that the geothite mineral form the main constituent of uraniferous iron oxide in addition to tapiolite, and kaolinite minerals, where as uraniferous manganese oxide composed of pyrolusite, ramsdellite, and cryptomelane. BSE confirmed that the associated uranium minerals represented by uranothorite, kazolite, and zentime in addition to columbite-bearing minerals. Uranothorite and columbite-bearing minerals are the most abundant minerals in this mineralization. Petrographically, biotite granite is composed mainly of quartz, in addition to K-feldspars, biotite and muscovite with minor zircon, garnet, apatite, uranium-rich thorite and iron oxide. Petrochemical studies and tectonic discrimination diagrams for this granite reveal that they are classified as granite to alkali feldspar granite, originated from calc-alkaline magma having peraluminous nature and developed in within-plate tectonic environment. Field radiometric measurements revealed the localization of two high radiometric anomalies associated with iron and manganese oxides, within this anomaly uranium content range from 65 to 85 ppm. Alpha Track-etch Detectors of radon gas registrations revealed high track density reach up to 15,448.7 Bq/m3.  相似文献

Fawakhir serpentinites are the most western ophiolitic ultramafics relative to the Pan-African collision suture at the Qift-Quseir road in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt. Their location is the basis for their selection in examining the possible contribution of the westerly dipping subducted oceanic slab-related melt/fluid with the intraplate granitic intrusion-related melt/fluid in the metasomatism of the Neoproterozoic ophiolitic serpentinites in the Eastern Desert. Non-residual mineralogy and geochemistry of serpentinites (SF1) far from the post-collision A2-type Fawakhir granitoids and those of serpentinites (SF2) in the vicinity of the granitoid pluton were investigated. The Fawakhir serpentinites are harzburgitic in composition and the Cr# (0.66–0.80) and Mg# (0.32–0.50) of their unaltered spinel cores are indicators for their forearc setting, where they were formed in the oceanic mantle wedge. Based on the spinel Cr# and the whole rock Yb–V bivariate, the melt extraction from the primitive mantle is in excess of 18% up to 24%. The HREE pattern of the SF1 serpentinites refers to the fractional type of melting. The formation of non-residual mineral phases particularly in SF2 samples (amphibole, biotite, apatite thorite, and monazite) and the enrichment of all serpentinites in trace incompatible elements refer to these two serpentinite groups having underwent modal metasomatism. It is suggested that viscous fluid/melt related to the Fawakhir granitoid emplacement metasomatized the SF2 serpentinites, causing a strong enrichment in LREE (display concave LREE; LaN/SmN?=?3.32–6.25 and U-type HREE; GdN/YbN?=?1.14–2.69) and a slight enrichment in Zr (12–16.62 ppm). All serpentinites are enriched in fluid-mobile elements by aqueous fluids, but the SF2 are more enriched in these elements. The spiked B compared to the other fluid-mobile elements (16.97–24.61 and 42.94–60.66?×?PM in SF1 and SF2 samples, respectively) suggests that these elements were added to the obducted ophiolitic Fawakhir serpentinites by the percolation of subduction-related fluids at shallow depths. The contribution of B from shallow continental crust-related fluids is debated. Hosting the Fawakhir serpentinites for the gold deposit at Fawakhir Mine implies a possible genetic relation between gold mineralizations hosted in the ultramafic rocks of the ANS and the processes of recycling of the subducted oceanic slab and the interaction with the mantle. Detailed stable and radiogenic isotopic analyses of the mineralization zones are required to address this question.  相似文献

The Eastern Desert of Egypt suffered a protracted period of deformation triggered by cratonization of the new juvenile crust known as the Arabian Nubian Shield (ANS), which has been proposed for potential gold discoveries associated with the corresponding tectonic event. The Fatira area, on the border of Egypt''s Northern and Central Eastern Deserts, is covered with metavolcanic rocks twisted by a dextral relocation of the Fatira Shear Zone (FSZ) relative to the Barud magmatic body. The recent study evaluated many deformed post-orogenic granitic intrusions and felsite dikes associated with promising mineralization localities, notably orogenic gold deposits. The combination of various field observations and remote sensing data, followed by the analysis of aeromagnetic enhanced maps, allowed the differentiation of distinct lithologies, structural features, and hydrothermal alterations in the study area. Additionally, the integrated results obtained from the different interpretation techniques are utilized to identify and confirm the previously supposed mineralized localities in the Fatira and Abu Zawal areas and predict other matched localities. The final ASTER, Sentinel 2 hydrothermal alteration, and orientation entropy heat maps demonstrate the association between these mineralized regions and major structures related to the FSZ late stage of deformation rather than other structures studied throughout the area of interest.  相似文献
